My background and practice

Education and Training.   I received my Ph.D. in counseling psychology from the University of Memphis and completed my pre-doctoral internship at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Memphis. I have specialized in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder, treatment of secondary traumatization in families, and primary care psychology. My post-doctoral training was in behavioral medicine at Health First Medical Group, also in Memphis.

I served as Assistant Research Professor at the University of Louisville, where my work focused on state and federal evaluation of child welfare programs. I have published in the areas of traumatic stress, state supervision of children in foster care, and the use of mental health services in the court system.

Licenses.   I have been licensed as a psychologist in Kentucky since 1999. I have also been designated a Health Service Provider by the State Board of Examiners of Psychology in recognition of my training and experience in the delivery of direct health-care services.

My practice.   I am engaged in the general practice of psychology, treating adults, adolescents and older children. I focus on the treatment of anxiety and depression that may aggravate an underlying medical condition, ranging from chronic diseases to infertility or complications during pregnancy. I also work with children and adolescents coping with chronic health conditions, anxiety, depression and other disorders that impact social functioning.

Although I have a broad base of training, I rely primarily on cognitive and behavioral methods of treatment. I provide collateral parenting, marriage and family therapy as necessary to meet treatment goals.

Confidentiality.   All information communicated within the psychologist-client relationship is privileged information. In accordance with Kentucky law and with professional ethics, disclosure of such information can be made only with your authorization. In Kentucky, there are two exceptions to this protection of confidentiality: (1) when there is abuse, neglect or exploitation of a child, a spouse, or an adult who is incapable of managing resources, activities of daily living, or protecting themselves; or (2) when there is a danger of harm to the client or to others. Information about these two situations that would otherwise be privileged may be communicated to child and adult protective services or other public authorities.

Fees.   Payment for services is due at the time services are rendered. The fee for the initial visit is $120. The fee for each additional 45-50 minute therapy session is $110. Please plan to pay the full fee by check, cash, or credit/debit card at the end of each session. I will provide pertinent information so that you may request reimbursement from your insurance company on your behalf.
